heres a story,heres a thought too,

imagine you took a line totally extreme simplistic,drew it down the middle of society,on one hand the smug classes,the other a ferral class(if thats the term,all part of new greed anyway)either of them unlikely to want to change anything,isolated or not bothered.what does that leave?enough people to do anything?fill up this world with?

i dont like to think of society as polarised as that,surely people want to live as peacefull a life as they can,we must still have so much in common,i hope so,maybee theres just too much choice and not enough common family t.v. thread.(give us a twirl)

heres another thought,are the new systems of exploitation(global)large companys?not governments,are you supposed to vote with your money and who you shop with as opposed to the ballot?there was a clearly defined line between the parties,was it the idea to move away from the stalemate,well now its become a mush,a blur but the real power game is still underneath.sometimes it feels crazy,the new town,music pushed to the back of so called record shops,keep looking forward tho,experimentation,attitude the thing.the law seeming a joke,imagine no need for cctv,go on,think how free youd be.whats happening on the high street?too crowded,im feeling down lately,frustrated,feel like walking away from a lot of things,need an OUT-let.

but i know the thought to have in mind boy,enjoy everything,its perfect.

oh that idylic dream,lit electric,that old fashioned feeling,that new feeling,my precious memories...laughs,a lot of em,a map out of the mess,yes,times of summer nights haze and sunsets.

now a records floated in,its bruce chanell and im thinking bout a lot of music,that jerry dammers is a folk hero,im thinking bout music knowledge and clout,about paul wellers music,much respect for the guy,hes a big influence,same soil-different flowers,pw has taken his own personal musical route of late and is still well liable to spit out red hot splinters of belief.

i really feel the sons are not like the other bands out there,how could they be,we say love it or leave it!

im hearing some great music and bands but so many bands out there,they do the job.some,they join the dots together theyve been given,there alright,but is the source strong enough?i doubt it.no depth learnt,no command.but for so many theres just nothing to them,shallow music for shallow times maybee?

what will they come out of it all with?twee trivial shit.badly manipulated trends already ended.worthless journalism.cynical.corporate pollution.

that music pollution was influenced by the arse end of a music scene,no skill,forget it now,move on.heres the zeigeist...forget music that will mean nothing to anyone.

grow,build move,sustain,affect hearts,see how much music can mean to us

TAKE THE STAND

this isnt troubling me im just bored with celeb(?)rehab and those arse lickers and the lowlife that fuel it,its atention seeking of the most unpleasent kind,people deal with addictions etc in relative privacy,oh,the z-list mentality,the one second attention span.like i said the booze on the tube thing lately,its not even a happening its crap,nothing,yet people want that on youtube,fucks sake.

amusing and interesting stuff im watching of late,well,john sullivan,allways,plus all the classic comedy,plays,dramas you know,mr sugar,mr hunt,james corden and ruth jones-great writing,great cast,frankie boyle,mr gervais,etc,etc.

oh yeah,those lyrics from those records,the ones like,point out that someone,point it out,and the other one,tell me what shes like...in time...makes ya think,mind guerilas...whats so funny bout peace love and understanding?

who knows how far you can trace it from but those original modernists set the stage,got it so right,so right,KEEP moving forward,so popular yet never derived  from the mainstream

and stuff im into at present,well the jermyn street touch,the ivy league,music like,well,loadsa stuff,that way it comes out sounding like you,music hall,1940s,lounge music,calypso,rnb,fuzz,blue eyed soul,soul,psychedelia,the who then AND now,the small faces(thank you),ronnie lane,the beatles,the jam(thank you)party chambers,the bass counterpoint in classical music,andrew hill,pet sounds,a-tonal rhythmic pieces,trying to find good new artists on myspace and succeding.

some working lyrics that will be part of the new songs that werent ready for the RAK sessions ive included in  the previous blog/post that contains the sons lyrics under (working)thats how it all comes about.to get into the spiritual for a moment i truely believe that everything in this amazing universe is vibration to be tuned to.

ah,come the glorious day brother/citizen...ECHOES...i saw him fight once,he was class..ECHOES...two-nil up at half time...ECHOES...but this is all reading a bit like a reggie perrin note,you know,desert boots and parka found at brighton beach,but surely not,i mean there was albert square on the tv then one minute im flying round st-james,all suit and bow tie ,the next im addidas and levis doing hand brake turns on her majestys secret supposedly...

a while back someone emailed me sayin with a little care the sons could capture the hearts of a nation,i dont know this guy you understand but it hit home good and i thank him,when people say that,they mean it and it means the world to me.

im writing this because ive read the most depressing thing (for some)
(for some i suppose its good news if thats the type of music they make and become self sufficient,as for me i find the early buzz of a groups small following great, im just not into bands of musos that play in pubs and little festivals)the way i could see that working is if its got class like youd expect from a blues or jazz artist for example,the emphasis being on art.

art and excitement.

like ive said,the notion that its the blandest of all rocks to be washed up on...then punch harder,my real close made me laugh when he spoke of finding god in a punch bag...

the article went along the lines that music means not much to people,that its over,that the best to hope for is playing to small audiences and that even radio play and deals mean nothing.something tells me theres an element of truth in that,like in most things,but then NO.im still hearing songs on the radio that are world class.listening to records that sold hundreds of thousands,works of art.listening to records that sold a handfull,works of art.

i will always be into my culture,allways.

one of the things that inspires this talk is music that just aint got a manifesto,that will be forgotten in a year involving people that its not that important to,because nothing is actually very important to them,sooooo ironic,get it?.NO i dont.

and at this point,at this moment in time,the sons are about something powerfull,fresh and important

RAK studios st johns wood,london april 21/22

a two day session at mickey mosts famous RAK studios,i can picture the whole 11 sons songs as an album now(including words on the walls,riot feeling,segue,automatic flow).we recorded 7 new songs,the john bull breed,after afternoons,in the pocket,so am i,its been nice,flag,part 1.

the idea was to record as live as possible and quickly,going for the 2nd or 3rd take,very much in the spirit of a bbc type radio session.the songs are there now.the line up split 5 or so months ago was a lot to think about at the time but i suppose had to happen,they just werent prepared to put in as much as me,fair play.i thank gary and stephen for there help on the session,big input and passionate playing,ive learnt a lot and didnt realise so much until then.

i certainly think RAK has a creative feel about it,thats why we worked so hard and fast.it was really enjoyable,the kaisers,mark ronson etc in the opposite studio was great and exciting.the original 1976 API recording console was used along with a mixture of modern and vintage microphones,the staff at RAK were indeed very helpfull.a big shout to tim the engineer for his hard work.

i was quitely confident although a little nervous about the studio in that so much classic music has been recorded there and obviuosly the fact that gary has worked with morrisey and stephen with graham coxon on some amazing records.i think looking at your words in lyrics requires many mindsets.coward.hero.beggar.im really pleased with them and think the past 5 months of my hard work writing them payed off.ive just heard a song called surrender to the rhythm and now look at how the track so am i works in another light,lots of little things like that,i want people to be amazed and intense,to hear textures and quality in the sons.it feels NEW and FRESH.

im looking forward to a solo accoustic set and dj set in may and so want to get talking about a full three peice band line up very soon.

ok theres a lot of crap on the web but if you match that with good music then i think its something to be proud of.

i like the fact its an outlet for doing artistic things now,be that djing,music,design,views(if your qualified to have them...) whatever,i see the net/itunes as a galery to put your artwork in,thats a big something,and woulda been such a struggle without,i mean  a few years ago big guns could have done far less than the sons have achieved to date,it can be a self sustaining industry but i stll think you need the big guns to push you if you break big!its like anything else you gotta sell(right or wrong term when it comes to art)
 
i think some wouldnt be interested in the net,i dont blame them one bit but you need it too,is buying music out?maybee,maybee not,well i just care about the MUSIC,i think people have always borrowed music on tapes or something only the 1950s /60s when vinyl was the only thing around they didnt,just make sure the conection is always there,thats the main!,i stll think artists and companys should be paid for there work some simple way but always give back in a fair way,a two way thing,existing with live gigs is ok if you can ask the ticket price,i want the artists vinyl,the artwork sleeve etc,what if you were to be a stockhausen type artist and rarely did live performances?but then i love gigs so thats cool. btw were over on last fm at www.last.fm/user/thesonsuk and www.last.fm/music/the+sons+uk for some playlists

i do think itunes and its plans etc has released all posibilities to a wider audience than ever before,i just need to see it as an uncomplicated thing.

other things,well aint it boring when bands have no real stance,when you see they become separated,weakened,boring cliches really....but.....
 

you just cant beat starring in awe at something in a shop,the anticipation,ah those new clothes,so sharp and modern,that record release.......
